Last week I had plans.
My week was full of lunch and dinner dates... language classes and meetings with my language tutor...
and do you know what happened? It all got cancelled.
Every. last. thing.
So, with our schedule cleared, my roommate and I decided to do a little pr@yr walking in a nearby neighborhood. As we walked we pr@yed for those who lived in the buildings, those who worked in the shops lining the crowded street, and those who were walking past us... and we asked that the L would allow us to meet someone in the neighborhood that we could hopefully build a relationship with.
As we came to the end of the street, we turned left and came to gate leading to a park. The park is a paved track that circles around a grassy area and also a large Hindu temple. My roommate and I decided to pr@y as we walked around the track... and as we made our way around we passed two young girls walking in the opposite direction. They stopped to talk to us (in English) for a few minutes, and as we walked away from them there were 2 ladies sitting on a bench. Those 2 ladies called us over to them, so we did the best we could to talk to them in their language. We were pulling out all the stops and using all that we knew to communicate! It turned out that the two young girls and also these two women all live in the neighborhood we had just walked and pr@yed through!
We talked to the women for a few minutes and they asked if we would be coming back everyday. We told them we were going out of town but that we would come again the next Friday (which was yesterday). So, yesterday evening around 6:00, my roommate and I lifted up our time to the Father and then we walked out of our front door and started to make our way to the park. We decided to walk a different road this time to find another way to the park, and on our new route, we walked straight into the 2 ladies from the week before! They were also on their way to the park. So, we all walked together from there and then chatted while making two laps around the track at the park (even though they said we would walk four). They decided we should stop and go to their house so my roommate and I could meet their families!
We followed them back to their home (their families live in the same apartment together), and there they served us coke and some chips... and they invited us back on Tuesday for lunch!
One of the ladies (the one below in blue) has children who don't know English very well, so she has asked us to come to her home to teach them English. The youngest is a 12 year old boy, and she also has two teenaged daughters. When we go Tuesday for lunch we will do an introduction lesson to see how much they know already so we can know where to go from there. We have a curriculum that's recently been written that uses stories from the Word to teach English. So, hopefully, that's what we'll be able to use!
My roommate Erin and I were so excited to meet these women and so grateful for the Father's faithfulness to hear and answer our requests! He's so good... and He works all things so perfectly together - even in all our cancelled plans! We're definitely looking forward to what He has in store!!
These are the two women and their families (one of the husbands is missing from the picture). Please lift these ladies up and ask that the Father would be at work in their hearts, preparing them to hear and believe in the Good News! Also, please lift up this opportunity to teach English... that the Father would direct us and show us the steps to take.
**One funny thing... the lady in brown said my name is a little difficult to say, so she said she would call me Julie. And my roommate Erin is now Mona! :)**
